Export & Performance Issues

You've spent time perfecting your project timeline, and now you need to share it with stakeholders. When export failures or performance problems get in the way, it's more than annoying—it can delay critical decisions and make you look unprepared.

Most export and performance issues have practical solutions once you understand what's causing the problem. Here's how to troubleshoot the most common issues and get your exports working reliably.

Export Problems

PNG files won't download:

  • Check if your browser blocked the download - look for a notification in the address bar
  • Disable popup blockers for Soufflé's website
  • Try right-clicking the export button and selecting "Save link as"
  • Check your Downloads folder - the file might have downloaded without notification

Export preview is blank or won't update:

  • Refresh the browser page and try the export again
  • Make sure you have content selected in your export settings
  • Try changing one export setting to trigger a preview refresh
  • Clear your browser cache if the preview consistently fails to load

CSV files won't work with other tools:

  • Make sure you resolved all errors in Checks before exporting
  • Try opening the CSV in Excel first to verify the data looks correct
  • Check that your project management tool supports CSV imports
  • Some tools require specific formatting - contact support for help with tool-specific issues

Large exports timing out or failing:

  • Try reducing your date range to cover a shorter time period
  • Export Individual Groups instead of All Top-Level Groups
  • Try exporting during off-peak hours
  • Break very large projects into multiple smaller exports
Performance Problems

Soufflé is running slowly or freezing:

  • Close other browser tabs to free up memory
  • Restart your browser completely
  • Try using Soufflé in an incognito/private window
  • Check if browser extensions might be interfering - disable them temporarily

Interface takes a long time to load:

  • Check your internet connection speed
  • Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache
  • Disable browser extensions that might be slowing things down
  • Switch to a different browser to see if performance improves

Map navigation is laggy or unresponsive:

  • Reduce your zoom level to see more of the project at once
  • Use the mini-map for navigation instead of dragging the main view
  • Collapse groups you're not currently working on
  • For very large projects (100+ tasks), consider breaking them into smaller projects

Browser crashes or "out of memory" errors:

  • Close unnecessary applications and browser tabs
  • Restart your browser completely
  • Try using a different browser
  • For very large projects, consider upgrading your computer's RAM
