Project Planning Issues
When your planning workflow breaks down, it can derail your entire project timeline. Whether tasks won't connect, error messages don't make sense, or the interface isn't responding the way you expect, these disruptions are particularly frustrating when you're working under pressure.
Most planning workflow issues stem from a few common interface interactions or data validation problems. Once you know what to look for, these problems are usually quick to resolve.
Diagram Space Problems
Tasks won't connect to each other:
- Make sure you're dragging from the node (small circle on the edge of a task)
- Drag to the connection circle on the target task, not just anywhere on the task
- If connections keep disappearing, check that both tasks are properly positioned on the canvas
- Try zooming in for more precise connection placement
Can't create groups:
- You must select multiple tasks first (hold Shift and click each task)
- Selected tasks should show a blue outline before you click "Group"
- If the Group button is grayed out, make sure you have at least 2 tasks selected
- Try deselecting and reselecting tasks if grouping isn't working
Map is hard to navigate or elements move unexpectedly:
- Click on empty space to deselect everything before zooming or panning
- Use the zoom controls instead of your mouse wheel if navigation is jumpy
- Try the mini-map for easier navigation of large projects
- If tasks keep jumping around, refresh the browser and try again
Resource Plan Problems
Can't save changes or advance to Checks:
- Make sure every task has both a name and a time estimate
- Use numbers only for time estimates (like 2.5, not "2.5 days")
- Click "Save" after making changes — don't just navigate away
- Check the progress counter at the top to see what's still missing
Days of Effort estimates not accepting your input:
- Use a period (.) for decimals, not a comma (2.5 not 2,5)
- Don't include units like "days" or "hours" — just enter the number
- If the field won't accept input, click directly in the field first
- Try typing the number instead of using copy/paste
Progress counter stuck or not updating:
- Refresh your browser if the counter appears frozen
- Make sure you clicked "Save" after completing tasks
- Check that you haven't missed any blank task names or estimates
- Try completing one more field and saving to trigger an update
Checks and Validation Issues
Visualize and Export tabs are grayed out:
- You must fix all errors shown in red cards before you can proceed
- Click "Resolve Error" on each error card to see what needs fixing
- After fixing the problem, click "Review Error" to mark it as resolved
- All error cards must show green checkmarks before you can advance
Error cards won't resolve even after fixing issues:
- Make sure you clicked "Review Error" after fixing each problem
- Some errors require going back to earlier spaces (like Diagram or Resource Plan)
- Save your changes in other spaces before returning to review errors
- If an error seems fixed but won't resolve, try refreshing the browser
Critical path calculation seems wrong:
- Check that all tasks eventually connect back to your project goal
- Look for tasks that are completely disconnected from the main flow
- Make sure you don't have any circular dependencies (Task A → B → C → A)
- Verify that milestones are connected to the right tasks
Getting "circular dependency" errors:
- Trace your dependency lines to find loops (where Task A depends on B, B depends on C, and C depends back on A)
- Remove one of the dependency connections that creates the loop
- Remember: dependencies should always flow toward your project goal, never backward
